چکیده

The mathematical approach proposed in this paper refers to the modelling of large systems of interacting entities whose microscopic state includes not only mechanical variables (typically position and velocity), but also specific activities of the single entity. Their number is sufficiently large to describe the overall state of the system by a suitable probability distribution over the microscopic state. The first part of the paper is devoted to the derivation of mathematical structures which can be properly used to model a variety of models in different fields of applied sciences. Then, some research perspectives are focused on applications to biological systems. c © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Kinetic Theory for Active Particles Modelling Coupled to Gaussian Thermostats

This paper deals with the kinetic theory for active particles modelling of complex systems, under the action of a velocity-dependent force field, and constrained to kept constant the total kinetic energy. A further development of the mathematical theory is here proposed, which consists in the external force-Gaussian isokinetic thermostat coupling with the intent to preserve the kinetic energy o...

From the mathematical kinetic, and stochastic game theory to modelling mutations, onset, progression and immune competition of cancer cells

This paper deals with a review and critical analysis on the mathematical kinetic theory of active particles applied to the modelling of the very early stage of cancer phenomena, specifically mutations, onset, progression of cancer cells, and their competition with the immune system. The mathematical theory describes the dynamics of large systems of interacting entities whose microscopic state i...

Mathematical Topics on the Modelling Complex Multicellular Systems and Tumor Immune Cells Competition

This paper deals with a critical analysis and some developments related to the mathematical literature on multiscale modelling of multicellular systems involving tumor immune cells competition at the cellular level. The analysis is focused on the development of mathematical methods of the classical kinetic theory to model the above physical system and to recover macroscopic equation from the mi...
